The indivisibility of human rights and the promotion of democratic development are central challenges to which VIDC Global Dialogue is committed in the sense of the UN Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs). Our activities aim to promote more peaceful, just and inclusive societies. The basic principles for this are democratic participation, the rule of law, good and transparent governance, access to justice and information, and personal security.

In the area of gender, VIDC Global Dialogue is concerned with gender sensitisation and violence prevention, combating human trafficking as a gender-specific form of violence, feminist movements and the implementation of the UN agenda "Women, Peace and Security". Gender tandem workshops for men and women with migration biographies have been offered since 2016.

The inclusion of migration in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) gives special international significance to the rights of migrants and refugees, labour mobility and remittances as development issues. VIDC Global Dialogue has taken up this trend in order to inform about the causes of forced migration on the one hand, and to raise awareness of migration policy issues on the other hand, and to acknowledge the contributions of diasporas to the development of the regions of origin.

At VIDC Global Dialogue we analyse the impact of international financial and economic policies on the living conditions of people in the Global South. We advocate a democratically controlled, environmentally sustainable global financial and economic system. In doing so, we are particularly interested in the role of measures in the EU and in Austria in building such a system.
