The VIDC sees itself as part of Austrian civil society. On the one hand, it serves as a professional platform that supports initiatives and projects, drives mobilization, and offers assistance; on the other hand, it acts as a key hub for networking, mediation, and participatory and emancipatory initiatives.
The VIDC aims to provide a space for collaborative action, idea generation, projects, and dialogue by and for people of diverse backgrounds and life experiences. The VIDC views reflecting on global development from a non-European perspective, accelerating learning processes, establishing equality, and removing barriers as integral to both its knowledge-based work and its political values.
