In a time marked by uncertainty and multiple crises, the need for innovative responses to current challenges is becoming increasingly important. The global world order demonstrates that the existing instruments and measures of states and multilateral organizations are no longer adequate. One possible response is feminist foreign policy, which aims at a fundamental transformation of global power relations and thus represents a necessary answer to a politics that enforces the rule of the strongest. It is a peace policy that places gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized groups at its core.
As part of the workshop series “Feminist Foreign Policy – Potentials & Reality,” organized by VIDC and WIDE, key policy areas with (potential) foreign policy impact were discussed from a feminist perspective together with experts. The results of these six workshops, which took place between November 2023 and 2025, were summarized in a final document.
